Collaboration Between Private And Public Schools

For the next academic year, the Education Ministry is going to start collaboration with private sector in order to begin their proposed plan of action. International schools such as Ascot International School in Bangkok will not be included in the partnership as it will focus on state schools in the country.

According to the Office of the Education Council’s secretary general, ChaiyaphruekSerirak, the people at the forefront of the project are going to have a discussion soon in order to get into the details such as criteria and guidelines which are going to be the basis in choosing the state schools that are going to be a part of the plan.

The project specifies that in every province, one state school will be chosen. They will be the ones to try out the new model of education management with backing from private sectors.

This campaign in education wherein the private and public sectors come together was the brainchild of the OPDC or Office of the Public Sector Development Commission. The proposition was done to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha who is the chairman of national reform steering committee.

The go signal was given by the steering committee and mandated that the pilot project should start in 2018 as a measure under their goal to reform the education system in Thailand.

Mr. Chaiyaphruek said that the participating schools will be chosen based on the criteria set by the panel under the supervision of Karun Sakulpradit, the permanent secretary of education.

He added that it is most likely that the pilot project will be consists of state schools that have current issues with their management or those that are thought to be underprivileged.

The private sectors involved in the program can also send their chosen school to be approved.

The plan is that through the program the state schools will be able to benefit from the expertise of the private sectors when it comes to education management. Maybe this is also the reason why international schools in Thailand such as Ascot International School in Bangkok have good education management is because they are managed privately.
