The same research also noted that honest reviews are more likely to go for concrete terms, like ‘price’, ‘check-in’, or the like, while fakes opt to set the scene.

Generic names and profiles with no names

One of the most common places that fake reviews come from are from offshore companies that publish bulk reviews for client, which means that they’ll be using generic names like John Smith and will likely be lacking a profile picture.

Spelling and grammar

Naturally, how a review is written is a good way to tell if a review is real or not. A lot of fake reviews are outsourced, so they’re either written in poor English or in a way that doesn’t match up with how a real customer talks.

Look at the middle
